Charles L. Williams

Mr. Williams’ practice focuses on commercial litigation of all types, with an emphasis on shareholder disputes, contract law, construction law, and creditors rights. His clients include individuals, businesses, financial institutions, and landowners. He has represented all parties in the construction process, including owners, lenders, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers and suppliers. He has served as a Commissioner in Chancery, and has appeared before state and federal courts in Virginia and other states, at both the trial and appellate level, as well as before the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals, numerous arbitrators appointed by the American Arbitration Association and the National Association of Securities Dealers, and numerous mediators. He also represents large creditors before bankruptcy courts in Virginia and in other states.

James C. Skilling

Mr. Skilling focuses his trial practice on complex civil litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Among his diverse clients are a significant number of domestic insurance companies as well as a number of corporations that are self-insured or part of a risk retention group. Mr. Skilling has extensive trial experience on matters that include general insurance defense, first party bad faith litigation, products liability, and insurance coverage opinions and litigation. He also represents insurers in the investigation of and defense against fraudulent insurance claims. In addition to his insurance defense practice, he represents clients in complex commercial and business litigation, including patent infringement defense and class action defense under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Mr. Skilling also routinely handles construction litigation disputes, physician shareholder disputes, non-competition agreements, and employment defense matters.
